“RulerPhone will inevitably come in handy, so you might as well buy it now!”
- got apps?

RulerPhone turns your iPhone and its camera into a true measuring tape -- all you need is something already in your wallet: a gift card, MetroCard, drivers license, or credit card.

Buy RulerPhone - the widely acclaimed, "best ruler app for the iPhone" - now for only $3.99.

New Version! RulerPhone can now also measure the distance from your iPhones camera to any object and save any measurements to your photo library!

RulerPhone is not like other apps: it does not just display an image of a ruler on your iPhone, and it does not use GPS to calculate distance. RulerPhone can accurately measure distances ranging from a few inches to 10 feet and beyond.

What others are saying:

"...one of the best applications for the iPhone."
"I was surprised how well this worked...I would buy this for $10."
"Works like a charm...super easy to use."

How does it work?

Place any credit-card sized card next to the object youd like to measure, snap a picture with your iPhones camera, align your image with the card placeholder that RulerPhone displays on-screen, and you are ready to measure anything in your picture just by dragging your finger. You can also use any picture already stored in your iPhone or iPod Touch photo library.

RulerPhone figures out the dimensions youre measuring using the card in your picture as reference. Once youve aligned the card in your image with the on-screen card placeholder, you simply drag your finger across the screen to measure distance. RulerPhone will display a ruler over your picture that you can drag and adjust to fine-tune your measurements (as seen in the screenshot below).

Is it accurate?

RulerPhone is accurate within half an inch when measuring distances of three feet or less and can be accurate within a single inch when measuring distances up to 10 feet as long as the instructions are followed closely. Much of RulerPhones accuracy depends on the users ability to follow the on-screen instructions and tips for accuracy. Once these steps are mastered, RulerPhone is a very accurate tool. RulerPhones accuracy will also continue to increase as the iPhones camera is upgraded.

When does it not work?

RulerPhone does not measure depth in a photograph. When you take a picture, RulerPhone can only measure an objects height and/or width. Similarly, if you take a picture with your MetroCard or drivers license off at an angle instead of pointing directly at the camera, RulerPhones accuracy will be compromised. All of this information is in RulerPhones instructions and accuracy tips that are available once you buy the app, and more information is found at the website below.

Pros and cons of RulerPhone - Photo Measuring app for iPhone and iPad

RulerPhone - Photo Measuring app good for

Works like a charm.. Super easy to use!!! Not buggy, nor does it lag... Took a pick of something that is 1.11"..... And it gave me 1.11".01!! Very accurate (only recomendation is for the ruler not to reset after one zooms in) but its a great app recomend.... Btw 1st!! :0)
I have been actually looking for something like this for a long time! Every time I measure something using this app its about 3 inches more than its supposed to be, which is pretty good for measuring on the go when I dont have a ruler handy. One time though I measured something that I knew was 5 feet 6 inches, and it came out to be 5 feet 6 inches on the app. So, I am pretty satisfied with this app.
Wow! I was surprised how well this worked. Its extremely accurate. Will get me within 1" every time. It takes a bit of practice, but is well worth 3 bucks. I would buy this for 10
I measured my new bar with this and it was only off by 2 centimeters. This app works great Im really pleased. Cheers!!!
When I am on the job site and forget my tape measure I know I have an accurate backup now. Off by only 1/8" when measuring a wall I was quite pleased. What could be added? Rotating the blue card icon could use an auto lock feature that snaps to every 90 degrees so I know I am getting a perfect horizontal or vertical alignment. Once you finish zooming in and lining up with the card the image tends to drift a little if you dont raise your finger perfectly straight up but this is hardly an annoyance. Well done.
This is one of the best apps to show the convienence and awesomeness of the iPhone. Easy, intuitive and fun. It makes me want to measure everything everywhere.

Some bad moments

Doesnt work , when it need to take a picture ... Keep your Money ....
This app is really not accurate if I use a credit card to measure. I dont know if there is any way to make the blue card smaller because when these two cards are aligned, the measurement is really out of range. I tried so many times and not a single time is accurate. I wont refer this app to anybody unless I can adjust the blue card size. I really regret that I trusted those testimonials.
The ruler may be correct but it is very bothersome to start yet another app to translate from feet and inches just to get the right values. I bought this today and if an update comes with metric values I will give it full score but now it is useless for me ;-( But still I like the idea so I give it a 2 and if it comes with metric Ill give it a 4 or 5 star
I followed all the "Tips" and I have yet to get an "accurate" measurement. Every measurement is off by 5 to 7%. Is that considered accurate? I was really hoping to use this for scaling photos of larger objects. If Im doing something wrong I hope someone can help. I gave this a 2-star for the idea and the use of measuring small objects. To me it needs real improvement. Id ask for my money back but that is not an option at the AppStore.
This app is not accurate 100% more like 97% accurate. if you want to approximately measure buy it. For more accurate results buy a key ring measuring tape.
If you use it for fequent measuring things, dont buy this. this doesnt measure items correctly. I tried it on my macbook pro 17 inch, and it marked the length was 11 inches... wat so weird this app would do to me.
